More Flavor: Benefit Dill Pickle Food Co-Op Benefit Party

In search of a community-based, organic, and sustainable food source, Northwest Side residents founded the Dill Pickle Food Co-op in 2004. With the help of tonight's benefit, the fledgling organization hopes to open a Logan Square location, to be owned and run by members. The group's unusual name is inspired by Dill Pickle Club, a coffeehouse/meeting place for radicals and ne'er-do-wells in early-20th-century Chicago; if the motley crew performing at the benefit is any indication, it's an apt reference. Glam divo Bobby Conn and WLUW's Mary Nisi spin in between an impressive lineup of bands: new-wavey ex-Bible-thumpers Detholz!, Thrill Jockey artistes Pit er Pat, and proggy, psychedelic rockers Reds and Blue.
