Reading Small Acts of Repair: Performance, Ecology and Goat Island

In tandem with their performance piece The Lastmaker, which comes to the MCA Theater in late March, Goat Island has published a book that's part monograph, part anthology, and part manual. Small Acts of Repair chronicles 20 years of the avant-dance group's work and method, in writings both by members and observers. As a parting gift to the genre — Lastmaker is, appropriately, the company's final work — the book includes workshop exercises and pedagogical essays that, like beloved recipes, lay the path for future generations' experimentation. Members of the group read from the book this afternoon.
