Nobel Peace Prize winner and iconic Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. is remembered across the country today for his tireless efforts to enact broad, all-encompassing social change in the South while simultaneously bringing racial awareness to cities like Chicago. The Chicago History Museum honors the Georgia native's brave accomplishments with a slate of programs today. Among the highlights, the Chicago Chamber Choir sings the pastor's praises, and thespians LaRoyce Hawkins and Cameron Drake present a fictional powwow between Malcolm X and MLK.
