Music: Rock/Pop Elliot Brood w/ Speck Mountain and Murder Mystery

Recently signed to Peacefrog, José González' home in the UK, Chicago-based Speck Mountain make dreamy, analogue music with Space Echo-drenched guitars, warm Rhodes piano, and ethereal vocals from Marie-Claire Balabanian. Their debut record, Summer Above, was rated No. 5 on the highly influential Piccadilly Records top 100 of 2007 — but for a true taste of the band's development, check its live rendition of Valet's "Blood Is Clean." Similar highlight "Backslide" brings to mind early electronic music, blended with the best of Spiritualized's instrumental b-sides.
