Film The Party (1968)

Peter Sellers-vehicle The Party sees the comedic great as Hrundi Bakshi, a terrible, clueless bit actor who is mistakenly invited to the studio chief's party. Of course, he sabotages everything in his path, as only Sellers can. The paisley patterns and mods-versus-squares tone play like a wonderful '60s time capsule, and the minimally scripted, foreign-fish-out-of-water premise is still fresh (just ask Sacha Baron Cohen). Though this is the only non-Pink Panther collaboration between Sellers and director Blake Edwards, Party easily rivals — and sometimes betters — the classic farcical blunders of Inspector Clouseau.
