On their debut EP, Bad Blood, local indie-pop six-piece Ultra Sonic Edukators worked with Sea & Cake and Tortoise mastermind John McEntire. The result is a lush, perfectly produced, impeccably arranged collection of Brit pop-influenced tunes, flush with amazing falsetto melodies, infectious Weezer-style guitar hooks, and delicate, by-the-book Beatles-esque harmonies. When playing live, however, the band shrugs off its modern-pop obsession and delves deeper into swirling psychedelic flourishes, jam-band grooves, and even extended, delightfully sloppy guitar solos — sweet! Tonight, the versatile Edukators kick off a four-week Practice Space Residency with local pop darlings Unicycle Loves You.
