Although Ian Pedigo makes raw-feeling sculptures out of humble materials — cardboard, plastic, scraps of wood — they reflect a certain sense of precision. His work relies on the quiet power of sparse forms and suggestive combinations, as opposed to the haphazard allure of assembled debris. Mixing crisp lines and ragged edges, hard surfaces and translucent planes, his sculptures are anchored by their insistent geometry, but they wink at you with selective touches of color and small details. Within this exploration of form, the pieces make equivocal connections to the wider world by means of evocative titles, vaguely architectural qualities, and fleeting resemblances to other objects.
