Now in its 44th year, the Chicago International Film Festival offers a sneak preview of the most anticipated movies of the fall, along with independent, foreign, and short films you can't see anywhere else. The lineup is staggering — 116 feature films, as well as dozens of shorts and docs from more than 45 countries. In addition to a World Cinema program and competitions for the top honor of the Gold Hugo, highlights include director Darren Aronofsky appearing at a screening of his new film The Wrestler (an epic comeback for actor Mickey Rourke); the world premiere of Jada Pinkett Smith's directorial debut; a Lifetime Achievement award for Sidney Poitier; and a newly restored print of Gregory Nava's indie classic El Norte.
