The white-suited writer credited with founding New Journalism and introducing a nuanced, new language for his generation comes to Chicago tonight. In the 40th anniversary year of the publication of two of his bestsellers — The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test and The Pump House Gang — author Tom Wolfe converses with legendary local political journalist Carol Marin. The Right Stuff, Wolfe's tale of the reckless heroism of the first American astronauts, is the center of this fall's One Book, One Chicago program. The program brings diverse viewpoints from around the city into conversation about one great book. In addition to discussing the book, Marin discusses Wolfe's career as a novelist and journalist.
