A neighborhood operation founded 19 years ago, the Around the Coyote Festival has grown into a grander-scale platform for emerging artists. Building on last year's rekindled energy and bulked-up programming — such as a new public-art component — the festival relocates to the West Loop this fall with hopes for a more polished and user-friendly experience. The move might still seem like a queasy concession to Wicker Park's ongoing gentrification, but the heart of the festival has always been its participants. This year features 130 artists and a solid lineup of film screenings, readings, theatre performances, and music.
