In his latest exhibition exploring the phenomenon of Internet identities, painter Doug Smithenry slyly asks "Are you a nobody?" He calls out the empty self-validation of seeking one's face in a Google search or airing the day's insignificant events into a blog. Painting his own mug shot among a series of 44 other Dougs found in an image search, 45 Dougs questions Smithenry's own web status. By answering these queries in real, offline paintings, Smithenry hopes to connect to a live audience at Packer Schopf Gallery.
