Humanitarian, peace activist, and Chicago native Kathy Kelly lived in Iraq during the first Gulf War and during the 2003 "Shock and Awe" bombing. More recently, she has lived among displaced Iraqis in Amman, Jordan. During this time, Kelley served as co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence — a local nonprofit organization dedicated to ending "US economic and military warfare" in the Middle East through nonviolent action — and collected moving accounts from Iraqi mothers and children that illustrate the real cost of the war. Tonight, Kelley shares some of those stories and discusses how concerned US citizens can work to improve the lives of Iraqi refugees.
