What can be done to overcome humanity's enduring love affair with violence, injustice, and cruelty? In this euphoric post-election moment, it may be fruitful to re-examine the meanings of peace. The Chicago Cultural Center and Columbia College present a discussion challenging our understanding of non-violence and social justice, and considering whether ethics can be taught. Speakers include Columbia faculty member Louis Silverstein, who teaches peace studies and education, and June Terpstra, an activist and lecturer on criminology, law, and terrorism.
