Chicago and the Universe

Collecting 10 experimental film and video works produced in 2008, curator Alexander Stewart examines the themes, attitudes, and media used by Chicago's moving-image artists. The Pizza Dog collective creates an animated GIF version of an exquisite corpse, while Andy Roche critically examines leftist Catholicism and Midwestern psychedelia. Jodie Mack simultaneously embraces and rejects the daunting task of weekly yard work; Latham Zearfoss's Self Control uses cake, blood, and '80s pop to question trust, queer identity, and communtiy. But Michael Robinson's All Through the Night might be our favorite, sending chills down our spine with the suggestion of a loveless universe.
