Chicago's Christkindlmarket takes everything that is decadent about Christmas and German culture, and combines it underneath a large, sparkling Christmas tree in the Daley Plaza. The air of Christkindlmarket is filled with wafts of sizzling sausages, potato pancakes, candied nuts, and sweet stuffed pretzels. Wash these seasonal treats down with the market's signature drink, Glühwein (hot, spicy wine), which comes in a souvenir holiday boot mug. The market's wooden huts abound with handmade Christmas ornaments, jewelry, wooden toys, and exotic forms of candy. Events include appearances by Chris Koon and the Chicago Children's Choir.
