After 14 years of recording his folksy, avant-gospel tunes, Danielson has been the subject of both a feature documentary and a lengthy essay by Rick Moody. While critics can agree that he's far from a traditional Christian musician, his yelping voice and abstract lyrics helped pave the way for like-minded artists such as Sufjan Stevens and Half-Handed Cloud. Hot on the heels of a brand new (free!) digital EP and a slew of vinyl re-issues, Danielson takes the stage tonight with Oakland psych-rockers Cryptacize.
