Bryan Scary & the Shredding Tears recall the Kinks and XTC, dipped in a bit of Queen-style bravado. Which is all you should really need to know to fall just as hard as we did for these guys. Meanwhile, Brooklynites the XYZ Affair have been steadily, if quietly, gathering acclaim, and it's not for nothing. Their self-released debut, A Few More Published Studies, is rousing, literate indie rock, custom-made for swaying and singing along.
