A pioneering exemplar of that music-biz cliche "big in Japan" (their hugely successful 1978 LP Live At Budokan made them international stars), Cheap Trick dominated the FM-radio dial with a string of hit singles such as "I Want You to Want Me," "Surrender," and "Dream Police." They've since mellowed into a genial elder statesmanship, with guitarist Rick Nielsen now an owner of the trendy Piece pizza restaurant in Bucktown. Tonight's show is a holiday benefit for needy children, so bring a new, unwrapped toy.
