Most stand-up comedians strive to avoid the awkward moment — that cringeworthy instant when they've crossed a line and replaced laughter with uncomfortable silence. Local stalwart Robert Buscemi, however, is the rare comic who actually seeks out these weird turns, relishing the challenge of convincing the audience to stop distancing itself and like him again. It's a tricky approach, but Buscemi is funny enough to keep getting them back on his side, and it keeps his high-wire act edgy and interesting. Tonight's performance will be recorded for a new comedy DVD, Squozen.
