If you're looking for the feel of a traditional German holiday celebration without the crowd at downtown's Christkindlmarket or the expense of flying to Europe, spend the weekend savoring a taste of Germany in Lincoln Square. There's a bountiful selection of goulash, chestnuts, apple strudel, and brats with plenty of beer and Glühwein (warm spiced wine) to go around. Crafters can decorate a wooden shoe for St. Nicholas to fill, or live out architectural fantasies by building a gingerbread house. But no matter how beschwipst you get, cover band Trash Martini's Saturday performance reminds you you're not actually in an authentic German village.
