Despite women's considerable artistic contributions to the genre — from Wendy O. Williams' fearless obscenity to riot grrrls Bikini Kill, queercore rockers Team Dresch, and contemporary all-girl radicals Mika Miko — punk rockers of the female persuasion are still an oft-overlooked anomaly. This summer, members of Chicago's feminist circles redress this critical antipathy with a weekend-long celebration of women in punk. Tonight's benefit previews the anxiously anticipated Chicago Clit Fest with the Krunchies, Daylight Robbery, Canadian Rifle, and Condenada, all set to get attendees to rock out with their... well, to rock out.
