After a string of well-received 7-inches, the Toronto-based Crystal Castles are finally releasing their much-anticipated full-length this March. Jamming on homemade keyboards and pitch-shifting their vocals into a jumbled bark, the Castles manage to twist tinny video-game sounds into anthemic, fist-pumping material. Recently, they've been whetting appetites with electro-blip remixes of big-timers like Uffie, Klaxons — and tonight's could-be-headliners, HEALTH. The LA band does art-rock right, having clearly learned the Fall's three R's (repetition, repetition, repetition); but as soon as HEALTH lock into a tribal groove, they jolt the time signature, tossing in a primal scream or some sheet-metal guitar scrapes for good measure.
