Filmmaker Martin Doblmeier's The Power of Forgiveness is a wide-ranging documentary about the ability of compassion to alleviate anger and grief. Victims' families and spiritual scholars, such as Thich Nhat Hanh and Elie Wiesel, give their opinions in seven compelling stories — filmed everywhere from Northern Ireland and Virginia Tech to Ground Zero and an Amish schoolhouse. Doblmeier depicts deep human struggles to transform the abstract concept of forgiveness into working realities, reminding us that the benefits are well worth the burdens.
