The Empty Bottle says…

Singer/songwriter Baby Dee might be best described as "uncategorizable" — she's also a classically trained harpist, former church organist, circus freak, and transgender performance artist. Dee's in town promoting her new album, Safe Inside the Day, produced by Will Oldham and Matt Sweeney and just released by Drag City. It's a rare record that manages to be both deeply weird and extremely listenable, as her raspy falsetto hopscotches between Antony-esque torch songs and rollicking, vaudevillian cabaret tunes. In what may be one of the most genius pairings in a long while, punk-rock marching band Mucca Pazza open the show.
