Tonight's bill at Av-aerie is a sort of mini-No Fun Fest for Chicago, promising an earful of a few solid, up-and-coming American noise bands. C. Spencer Yeh's violin-scraping improv has a level of skill and logic rarely seen among the basement buzz-and-hiss set, but then, thrash-jazz trio Lambsbread and San Francisco duo Skaters (both of whom played 2006's Thurston Moore-curated Nightmare Before Christmas festival) can stake the same claim. And Cleveland's Emeralds continue to refine and expand upon their oscillating coils of gritted-teeth drone with each new release.
