More Flavor: City Gem 16th Annual Mystery Book Fair

If you're one of the Americans who still enjoys literature — sadly, fewer than 50% of US adults do — head over to the Newberry Library's 16th Annual Mystery and More Book Fair. More than 7,500 hardcover and paperbacks are on sale at this two-day bonanza, many for the dirt-cheap price of 50 cents. Science-fiction classics, bodice-ripping romances, and whodunits for the Nancy Drew set are all on offer; bookworms of every persuasion can find the perfect curl-up-in-bed treasure. Those looking to splurge can hit up the rare and collectibles table, which promises pricey gems like a first edition of Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow and a signed copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
