The diskJokke album Staying In sounds a bit like a scholarly music geek blowing off steam at an all-night discotheque. It's an accurate picture. The artist (aka Joachim Dyrdahl) is a classically trained violinist, a mathematician, and a resident DJ at Oslo's hottest club night, Sunkissed. His epic disco masterpiece, the newest release from Norwegian label Smalltown Supersound, is a witty mélange of funky retro-Italo beats, glitchy Atari bleeps, and groovy-dub touches. Tonight's showcase of SS artists also includes innovative graphic designer/pop-electro maestro Kim Hiorthøy and Bergen-based techno artist and producer Bjørn Torske.
