This afternoon, in honor of National Women's History Month, the Chicago Area Women's History Council kicks off its latest undertaking: Chicago Women Activists, 1960s–1980s. The nascent project documents the impressive contributions of local second-wavers to the feminist movement. We hope to see famed Chicago feminists like Planned Parenthood exec Mary Jane Snyder, TIME's 1975 Women of the Year Addie Wyatt, and the sexism-fighting foot soldiers of the Chicago Women's Liberation Union honored for their work on the local and national level. CAWHC and Veteran Feminists of America members, including feminist historian Sara M. Evans, are on hand to discuss the venture's goals and enlist the support of volunteers.
