Literary fiction occasionally pops up in the most unlikely places. Just the other day, the New York Times revealed that a gangbanger's mean-streets memoir recently published to rave reviews was, in fact, completely made up. Well, if lit-fic can sneak past an esteemed publishing house, all the way into the nonfiction section, then surely it can take over a venerable rock club for an evening. As part of its 12th Annual Story Week Festival of Writers, Columbia College Chicago's Fiction Writing Department presents readings from authors Junot Diaz (The Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao), ZZ Packer (Drinking Coffee Elsewhere), and Colin Channer (The Girl with the Golden Shoes). In addition, there are performances from artist and FreshYarn.com creator Hillary Carlip and music by 30-piece "circus punk" marching band Mucca Pazza.
