Nicholas Knight: Depictured

For Registers, Nicholas Knight's first solo exhibition in Chicago, the artist blends images with text, and color with grayscale. The works on display include smart, tragicomic photo-sculptures, existential abstractions, and sentence diagrams. Knight plays with the colored test patterns on the bottom flaps of Domino's Sugar boxes, scanning the pattern and then collaging the original flap onto the printed scans. From there, the show moves on to further explorations involving antique picture frames, electrical outlets, and text-based, Proust-inspired wall drawings.
