If the clothes make the man, shouldn't the man (or woman) make the clothes — or at least personalize them a little? The Swap-O-Rama-Rama lands at AV-aerie today, transforming the private thrift-store hunt into a community event. Toss a bag of your unwanted clothing into the pile, and then search for your own new spring line. Designers and artists offer tips to help revamp your finds with on-site sewing machines, silk-screen booths, and decal-printing stations. Donate, recycle, and re-create — whatever you can carry home is yours. If you're feeling fierce, you can even strut the runway and get feedback from your fellow DIY thrifters. Proceeds go to AV-aerie and Three Sisters Park.
