Note: The Fri Apr 4 show is a special program for the company's annual gala fundraiser.
While Hubbard Street's first week at the Harris featured some choice pieces — notably the latest from in-house choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo — Program Two better represents the 30-year-old dance company's unique approach and style. Julian Barnett's Float is a male/female duet that uses Múm's fragile beats to emphasize its intricate isometrics and stripped-down theatrics. Artistic Associate Lucas Crandall premieres a chamber-sized piece titled The Set, which, despite having the classical framework of a Bach score, touches on the mysteries of contemporary gender roles. Also on the program: returning works by Cerrudo and Lar Lubovitch, and the company's first purchase from New York modernist Doug Varone.
