Still from Damn the Past!

This aptly titled program features a passel of alternately funny, poignant, and eccentric short films by award-winning Asian-American directors. Highlights include Ted Chung's elegant, eerie, black-and-white A Thousand Words, a slice-of-life story about a chance encounter between two strangers on a train; Juli Kang's ambitious musical Damn the Past!; and Michelle Hung's visually stunning meditation on sisterhood, Chinese Dumplings. Several music videos round out the show, including Dan Lee's video for San Francisco band Scrabbel — a joyful, lo-fi clip mixing clever animation and infectious pop energy.
