Whether he's staging a fake feud with Oprah or gathering an unlikely posse of supporters (including Hank Williams III and hair-metal vet Billy Sheehan), Mike Adams is one of the weirdest figures on the independent lit scene. The short stories in his self-published collection Toilet Bowl Soup: Redneck Tales from the Armpit of America are crude, sometimes hilarious tales of boozy sadists, drug addicts, and the occasional limb-less characters drawn from his life in rural southern Indiana — a place that's apparently a cesspool of unabashed white-trashiness. Tonight, Adams reads excerpts from his book.
