There may only be seven of them, but each dancer in Armitage Gone! Dance is reason enough to see this show. Megumi Eda, especially, gives her feline poses a hyper-sexual, predatory quality, turning viewers into voyeurs. Choreographer Karole Armitage plays with ballet's rules and structures, creating a tension between classicism and her far-ranging ability. The program's two pieces contain plenty of captivating moments in and of themselves, both deadly serious and blithely sarcastic; the performers inject phenomenal power and nuance into every step, and the production design, by jack-of-all-arts David Salle, provides a suitably magical setting.
