On 2005's Logic of Building the Body Plan EP and the following year's full-length debut, Appreciation Night, Chicagoan quintet Bound Stems introduced their sophisticated take on indie rock: a mix of Pavement-y melancholy, Animal Collective-style pop weirdness, and lush coed harmonies à la That Dog. In the time since that first big splash, the once-buzzy band has kept relatively quiet, but tonight, Bound Stems remind everyone that they're still here and they're still awesome, performing tracks off their much-awaited sophomore effort, The Family Afloat, due out this summer.
