Music: Electronic Meat Beat Manifesto w/ Raz Mesinai's Badawi

Since forming in Swindon in 1987, Meat Beat Manifesto have toyed with breaks, techno, industrial, dub, and everything in between, carving out a distinct (if sometimes divisive) niche in electronic music. Founder Jack Dangers, meanwhile, has worked with everyone from Public Enemy and David Bowie to the Bee Gees and David Byrne. Dangers and company touch down tonight alongside underground-improv aesthete Raz Mesinai, a composer who first gained recognition in the avant-garde circles of early-'90s New York. Striking into (slightly) less abstract territory, Mesinai's Badawi project (whose new record features collabs with DJ Spooky, Kode9, and DJ /rupture) blow speakers and minds with a singular brand of abstract, Middle Eastern-influenced dub.
