In his new book Superclass, David Rothkopf makes a compelling argument: international business leaders — much more than elected politicians — dictate foreign policy and global economics. A former US Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, Rothkopf recognizes that the globalization pony has clearly left the stable, which just leads to more questions. Should the business "superclass" be more tightly regulated? Does the old adage about the peaceful relationship between every country that has a McDonald's prove the benevolence of the free market? Are any of these guys Freemasons? (Americans love a good conspiracy theory, after all.)
