For this weekend's special midnight screening, Fangoria favorite Donald F. Glut premieres his latest hellspawn, Blood Scarab. Hoping to escape the sunburnt fate of hubby Dracula, Countess Bathory turns to the Egyptian goddess Hathor for help, only to get headaches and mummies. Blood Scarab fulfills horror fans' love of monster crossovers, but don't expect much in the way of universal gothic or big-budget set pieces; Glut's work is more akin to '70s exploitation films like Spanish cult classic Vampyros Lesbos. If you liked the director's The Erotic Rites of Countess Dracula (2001) or The Mummy's Kiss (2003) — or at least like the sound of them — his vampy vampiress should hit just the right artery.
