Music: Rock/Pop Nada Surf w/ the Jealous Girlfriends

When Nada Surf released jokey '90s teen anthem "Popular," they embarked on a music-industry rollercoaster ride of fame, glory, and major-label discontent. The Brooklyn-based trio rejected Elektra Records' urgings for another radio-friendly novelty and paid the price with years of obscurity. The band subsequently pulled an indie-rock Lazarus routine, releasing a winsome string of low-key, critically acclaimed power-pop albums, inlcuding Lucky, their new album and fifth full-length. Fellow Brooklynites the Jealous Girlfriends — whose much-hyped shimmering sound has earned them praise from the New York Times and airplay on shows like Grey's Anatomy — share the stage tonight.
