Patrick McCarthy's circuit-bending workshop at the Old Town School of Folk Music offers a step-by-step course on how to rejigger your cheapo Casio — or even your nephew's old Furby — to create an inventive noise instrument. McCarthy doesn't ask for any prerequisite know-how, just your battery-powered gadgets and a sense of curiosity.
