Liars concurrent gigs opening up for Radiohead seem like a dicey proposition. You'd hope the In Rainbows audience would be among the more open-minded, but given their sheer size — and the fact that Liars' own fans tend to be divided over the band's catalog — they probably offer as many turned-up noses as ears. Tonight, the headlining Liars don't need to worry about such a reception. Be it through the triumphant psych-stomp of last year's self-titled album or the urban tribalism and doom-dub of They Were Wrong and Drum's Not Dead, Liars reinvent themselves more convincingly than any other indie-rock band today. Well, there is that one British band that's pretty good at it, too.
