Architect Lise Anne Couture and Hani Rashid founded the highly innovative, rule-breaking firm Asymptote in 1988, taking its name from a mathematical concept that describes a curve. Tonight, Couture surveys Asymptote's wide-ranging design projects, including public works, business centers, and residences around the world. Highlights include a virtual trading floor for the New York Stock Exchange, site-specific art installations (like 2003's Moving Pictures at the Guggenheim), and the firm's intuitive, womb-like A3 workstations for iconic modern-furniture company Knoll.
