Tonight's screening features short films loosely tied to the theme of "Rube Goldberg Failures." Goldberg's drawings depicted absurdly complex inventions; the cartoonist called them "symbols of man's capacity for exerting maximum effort to accomplish minimal results" — which, if you think about it, is a pretty appropriate metaphor for these solo filmmakers. Highlights include experimental "photocopier animation" by Alexander Stewart and witty, performance-based video by Ania Greiner, along with offerings from Chris Hefner, Nick Black, Phillipe Blanchard, William Lamson, and Japeth Mennes.
