Performing Arts: Theatre Avenue Q

The producers of Rent have caught lightning in a bottle a second time, proving again that musical theatre can be relevant to the twentysomething crowd. Avenue Q, which snagged the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical (take that, Wicked), is Sesame Street for the iPod generation, starring primary-colored, foul-mouthed puppets singing about Internet porn, post-collegiate unemployment, racism, and one-night stands. Still going strong on Broadway, the show has finally embarked on a national tour. The puppet posse's Chicago run is just two weeks long, so get your tickets soon.
