Curated by Newcity art editor Jason Foumberg and hosted by Alfedena Gallery, the Contemporary Arts Council's 14th annual emerging-artist exhibition illustrates the ways that familiar cultural touchstones can be reimagined. Shape-Shifters puts a fresh spin on zombies, witches, krump dancing, and mundane household items, and shows how we are, in many ways, "conglomerates" of the things that surround us. Look out for Mindy Rose Schwartz's work, which feeds goodies to the living dead, and for the exhibition catalog, which looks like the result of a game of exquisite corpse.
