As frontman for '90s proto-emo heroes Sunny Day Real Estate, Jeremy Enigk used vocal histrionics to inspire rockers to get in touch with their sensitive sides. But Enigk's solo career, begun during SDRE's heyday, has showcased his more mellow instincts. His first effort, the 1996 baroque-pop epic Return of the Frog Queen, left behind Sunny Day's frenzied guitars for more delicate folk with lush orchestral accompaniment. A decade later, World Waits went even more mainstream, with acoustic and piano-driven pop songs flush with Enigk's gorgeous cries, heartfelt lyrics, and pretty melodies. Tonight, the amorphous artist performs material off his new mini-album The Missing Link. Indie balladeer Damien Jurado opens.
