Continuing the tradition of its founder, social reformer Jane Addams — an advocate for immigrants' rights, public housing, and child-labor laws who believed that people needed a dedicated, friendly space to dream, talk, and work together — the Hull-House Kitchen kicks off a weekly lunchtime event built on good conversation and great soup. Executive chef Sam Kass and culinary fellow Yoni Levy dish up carrot-ginger-coconut and pea-mint soups, while discussion topics (which change every week) focus on sustainability, the environment, community, and health.
