Wednesday May 7 (7pm)
Dorothy Parker would be proud of the folks from Reading Under the Influence, who clearly understand the symbiotic relationship between literature and alcohol. Each RUI event, on the first Wednesday of the month, focuses on a theme (this month it's the apt "Holy Shit! The Sun!") and features authors punctuating their readings with shots, while the audience imbibes along, answering trivia questions for prizes. The convivial atmosphere lures top-notch writers like tonight's guests — Ingrid Rojas of art/literary salon Manual Labor, Alex DeBonis, Elliot Krop, and Karen Schmidt — as well as regulars Julia Borcherts and Amanda Snyder.
