Film Then She Found Me

Ever since Mad About You made Helen Hunt a household name, she's never been able to shake the distinct scent of sitcom, even after garnering an Oscar. In Then She Found Me, which she wrote, directed, co-produced, and stars in, Hunt has finally made peace with that quality for better or worse — mostly better, oddly enough. The result is a story of a 39-year-old woman facing infertility, divorce, the recent death of her adoptive mother, and the discovery of her long-lost biological mother (an unusually subdued Bette Midler) that is both formulaic and emotionally accessible. Matthew Broderick is terrific as Hunt's man-child of an ex-husband.
